Dressing for the Holidays (Part 1)

Part of the Holiday fun, for me at least, is dressing up for family and friend parties! I love dressing festively at work as the Holidays approach, too, so finding Holiday pieces that can work for both work and play is essential. I was recently perusing J. Crew Factory's newer additions, and had some fun picking together some outfit pieces. I will create another "Dressing for the Holidays" post with finds from other stores next month. I'm being a good girl this month and trying to really avoid buying myself things, as I need to ramp up for Christmas shopping for my loved ones (see my growing Holiday Guides here and here, with more to come)... so this post was inspired by my online-window-shopping, enjoy!

Sweaters

Sweaters are a given for the winter and Holiday season, but adding festive graphic flair is never a bad idea. These cuties are a great way to show your fun side in the office, while they can still work well with a pair of dress pants or a skirt, and they also can be dressed for a party (add a sequin skirt or some bright heels).

Skirts

For those of us living in very chilly regions, skirts can be hard to put on in the morning. Ya know, when the sun is up yet and you just left your very warm cozy bed... it can be very hard to slip on tights and a skirt, but we must solider on! These skirts are a little thicker, especially a leather (or faux leather) skirt, and you can always rock them with a pair of sweater tights (Loft has my favorite tights, never tried J. Crew's). Then, add riding or heeled boots and you are slightly warmer than you'd think! And you look cute, so that's good. Skirts are a great transition piece for both the seasons and just regular day-wear -- you can wear these as temperatures change (add tights or remove them!) and they can easily go from office to party.

Shoes:

You can always have fun with shoes! There is no better way to spice up an outfit than by picking out cute and festive shoes. Plaid is a go to pattern for everything in Fall and Winter, bows are always cute, and glitter... well glitter is a girl's best friend, right? I happen to be in love with loafers/smoking flats, they are easy to slip on, they look effortlessly cool, and you can get some really great novelty ones. Also, you can never go wrong with nude flats, they rock the office and the Casbah ;) Oh, and pumps! Pumps are the same, play them up to really light up a LBD. Go shoe crazy!

PJs:

It just isn't Christmas morning without the appropriate sleepwear, right? Whether you prefer cute boxer shorts or a fancy sleepshirt and robe, checking under the tree in the morning involves fashion too! I love these plaid PJs from J. Crew Factory, in the perfect colors to boot. Picture wearing these, exchanging gifts, fire burning, and hot chocolate-sipping... how cozy!

I will definitely be keeping my eyes peeled as more and more Holiday new arrivals appear in stores, so expect another Dressing for the Holidays posted in a couple weeks! In the meantime...
